July 3rd, 2010

Today we went to the Children's Village Garden at the Cheyenne Botanical Gardens. This is a special place for many reasons. Steve and I were married not far away at the Peace Garden and my mother has a bench that is dedicated to her in the Children's area (Chase is pointing to her name). This garden has been open for less than a year so it is a new addition to the Botanic Gardens. Chase had an absolute blast and did not want to leave!!! Yes, there was a tantrum. Anyway, the garden has a lot of places for kids to play in the water and in the sand and has a raft bridge that he figured out and had fun going across. It is pretty special. I plan on visiting here a lot while I am here.

We decided to go to the spray park at the Municipal Pool in Cheyenne and I forgot how Wyoming weather worked. If the sun is out, it's not too bad but when the wind blows it gets really cold if you are wet. As you can see, Chase was cold and he didn't enjoy it as much as he could have. He also had a tantrum about something. There have been so many I can't remember what this one was about...

Well...this photo shows how our trip started, if you will notice Chase's expression, this theme will show up time and again through these posts. This is because he is 2.5 and is being removed from his routines into a whole new environment. More on that later. He was also a little uncomfortable because he had an intestinal problem which consisted of him watching movies quietly and then screaming at the top of his lungs when he had to go #2 (still in diapers). When we got to Rapid City I was at the end of my rope with the tantrums and Karine and Brad had to help us out. Thank you!!! After a nice lunch with Tom in Newcastle the next day, the rest of the trip was uneventful...
